Pal Garet Aleksanderöborg (born 22 April 1994), better known as Kai, is a Lashardian rapper, singer, and songwriter.
Kai first entered the music industry as one-half of the duo ZeroAir. With ZeroAir, he achieved several chart successes. In late-2015, the duo split amidst rumors of jealousy after Kai was signed to Akai Music Group as a solo artist. His debut self-titled studio album was released in summer 2016.
Life and career[]
Early life[]
Kai was born on 22 April 1994 as Pal Aleksanderöborg in the Elsker district of Ubenmoor. His father, Aleksander, is a banker, while his mother, Lina, is from Pesa and worked as a preschool teacher. The family was upper-middle class, and Kai has two younger brothers.
Kai attended primary school in Elsker, where he excelled academically, but was also interested in the arts. He learned to play the piano at age seven. Kai graduated as valedictorian in 2009, and went on to attend a performing arts high school, where he met Kaks of ZeroAir. He graduated from high school in 2012.
2012–2015: Work with ZeroAir[]
In early-2012, Kai and his close friend Serj Lindöjobs, better known as Kaks, formed ZeroAir. After graduating from high school in June 2012, they began performing gigs throughout Ubenmoor hip hop clubs. They were signed to Letlend Records in late-2012 to begin work on their debut album.
Through Letland, they were introduced to Edena Edvardöpalsen who has performed vocals on every one of their songs. Their debut single, "Nakorna", was released in summer 2013 and became a hit single. Their debut album, AirZero, was released in 2015, and also included the singles "Moyches", "Jakub", and "La ö La ö La".
In late-2015, it was revealed that the duo would be splitting up. It was heavily rumored in the Lashardian press that the reason for their split was Kai being offered a solo recording contract and Kaks's intense jealousy.
2015–present: Solo success and Kai[]
In December 2015, Kai confirmed that he had signed a solo recording contract with Akai Music Group. He soon began work on his debut solo studio album. In an interview, Kai stated, "My solo music will be a bit different than ZeroAir's music. I'm a pianist so I really want to incorporate that, and there will also be less electronic influence".
Kai released his debut solo single, "4 mahan", in Spring 2016. The song was unique in the Lashardian hip hop community, for being a rapped ballad that incorporated the piano. It achieved extreme praise from both critics and listeners, and peaked at number-1 on the Lashardian singles chart. Kai's debut self-titled solo album was released in summer 2016, and reached number-2 on the Lashardian albums chart.
Personal life[]
Kai was in a relationship with Edena Edvardöpalsen from summer 2013 until December 2015. He resides in the Tenichi district of Ubenmoor.
Kai has dual citizenship to Lashardia and Pesa, and speaks both languages natively. His mother is a mixed Pesan from Santa Anastasia.
