Life and career[]
Early life[]
Wiköluk was born as Kamron Markölustin on 13 September 1988 in Basya, Nortensland. His father Mark was a car salesman while his mother Trisha was a receptionist. He has a younger brother. Wiköluk's parents divorced when he was 12 years old, and he was subsequently raised by his father along with his little brother.
Wiköluk attended primary school in Basya. He had difficulties in school, but excelled in music and art classes. He graduated from primary school in 2004, and moved to Kesa to attend a performing arts high school. In high school, Wiköluk became even more exposed to music and developed a Lashpop sound. He graduated in 2007, and moved to Ubenmoor to pursue a music career.
2009–2011: Breakthrough and A Day In the Life[]
Following his move to Ubenmoor, Wiköluk began performing small gigs at nightclubs and as a singer for-hire. Also in 2007, he began uploading videos of himself covering popular songs to YouTube. Wiköluk's YouTube channel gradually began to increase, having 250,000 subscribers by 2009. In 2009, he was signed to Cyclops Records.
Wiköluk later released his debut single "Baby Love" in 2010. The song, was a massive success, reaching number-one in six countries and being certified 5x platinum in Lashardia. Despite its success, the song also received criticism, mainly for its uninspired lyrics and heavy use of autotune.
The following year, Wiköluk released his debut studio album. The album, titled A Day In the Life, was also a massive success, being certified 3x platinum in Lashardia. It also produced the hit singles "On the Radio", "DJ Make It Louder", and "Girls". Wiköluk began to mold his style into dance-club bangers with lyrics about partying.
2011–2013: From the Beginning[]
Shortly after the release of A Day In the Life, Wiköluk revealed that work on his second studio album had already been underway. The album's lead single, titled "Breathe", was released in 2012. The song was very different stylistically to his previous work, being a midtempo electronic ballad. However, the song was very successful and also received critical praise.
Wiköluk's second studio album, From the Beginning, was released the following year. The album was considered to be much more raw than Wiköluk's debut, consisting of many mid and downtempo songs, while its lyrics saw more maturity. However, like his debut, the album was a massive success, peaking at number-one on the Lashardian albums chart for over a month. It also produced the hit singles "Voyagers", "Play Pretend", and "Alone".
2013–present: Retcon[]
In 2013, Wiköluk revealed in an interview that work on his third studio had commenced and that he'd be releasing new music soon. The lead single from the album, "Amazing" was released in 2014, and saw a departure from the style of From the Beginning, and a shift towards more electronic-influenced Lashpop. On the date of his daughter's birth, he surprise released the single "Abigale".
Wiköluk's third studio album, Retcon, was released in 2015. Like its lead single, much of the album consisted of electronic-infused Lashpop music. The album also produced the hit singles "Playback", "Unbroken", and "Stay With Me". In 2016, Wiköluk took part in Mösikalifestivali 2016 with the song "Sorry". He advanced to the final where he placed ninth.
Personal life[]
Wiköluk resides in a luxury apartment in Tenichi with his wife Lolita Levine and their daughter Abigale. Abigale Kamöluk was born on 12 December 2014. He created his stage name while in high school and stated "It has no meaning. I just thought it sounded cool". He had his name legally changed from "Kamron Erik Markölustin" to "Kam Erik Wiköluk" in 2013. Wiköluk is a practicing Lashardian Orthodox Christian.
Marriage to Lolita Levine[]
Wiköluk's marriage to Lashardian pornographic actress Lolita Levine caused major controversy amongst Lashardian media outlets. In April 2014, Wiköluk and Levine eloped and announced the news on their respective social media accounts. A week after the wedding was reported, Levine revealed that she was pregnant with Wiköluk's child. This caused both fans and the media to suspect that Wiköluk had impregnated Levine and that the wedding was a shotgun wedding. Wiköluk and Levine later fueled the rumors by refusing to disclose details of their relationship.
Lashardian family rights and religious organizations were outraged by the marriage, stating it was inappropriate that a man of faith with a young fanbase would marry and father a child with a pornographic actress. Wiköluk later responded to the complaints saying "This is my wife whether you like it or not. I believe she's a beautiful woman inside and out who will be the best mother to our child as possible. The basis of our relationship is no one's business but our own and we will not be addressing any questions about it to the public".
