Lashardian Music Awards
Awarded For Outstanding achievements by Lashardian musicians
Country Lashardia
Presented By Lashardian Recording Industry (LRI)
First Awarded 16 December 1990

The Lashardian Music Awards (sometimes abbreviated as LMAs) is an award presented by the Lashardian Recording Industry (LRI) to honor the best in Lashardia's music industry each year. The ceremony is considered the most elite of its kind in Lashardia, and has been held annually since 1990.

The ceremony most often occurs somewhere from mid to late December and is broadcast live on LRT. The first ceremony was held in Ubenmoor Arena in Jorden and has been held there ever since. Since 2002, the show has been traditionally hosted by a prominent Lashardian musician.

The awards have been criticized throughout the years for its primary awards categories such as Artist of the Year and Breakthrough Artist favoring Lashpop artists over other genres. The winners of all awards except Breakout Artist are decided by a combination of public voting and votes from a jury of music professionals. The Breakout Artist award winner is decided solely by public voting.

Starting with the 2016 ceremony, only music released in that year can be nominated for awards.

PerformancesEdit

Performances are a large part of the Lashardian Music Awards. Traditionally, there is something around 8 performances during each ceremony, however the number will vary by year. It is tradition for the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award to close the show. Usually, all nominees for Artist of the Year will perform sometime throughout the show, while nominees for other major awards often perform as well. Unlike other award shows, most often performers do not debut new songs at the ceremony, but instead perform either their best-known songs or the songs they are nominated for.
