Santa Maria is the fourth-largest city of Pesa and the capital of the province Gortula. It lies on the north-central coast of the island.
The territory of Santa Maria was originally a small village home to around 300 residents before Pesa's colonization. The Titovans saw the possibility of turning the village into an important port city, and named it Santa Maria, after the Lashardian Orthodox saint. To this day, Santa Maria struggles as one of the poorest and most crime-filled cities in Pesa.
